Mind Control

Couple of years ago, when we were still mulling over the idea of creating the QBCCC & trying to find contributors. Josel emailed me a comic from a guy named Powil. I immediately fell in love with his art. We wanted him for the anthology, but alas the guy was incommunicado. It wasn't until Volume 2 that we were able to put out his first published comic story.

It was around early last year when we met Powil. Josel invited him to our first QBCCC Vol.2 meeting. Very mild-mannered, soft-spoken guy & very much excited about comics. He grew up here in the Philippines but got conscripted into the Taiwanese military. He showed us his pages for Mind Control, we were blown away. We offered to publish, he agreed. So here it is in its entirety! The first full-length comic published under the QBCCC banner (printed copies were sold at BLTX some weeks ago)! Powil Guzmanos' MIND CONTROL!

Adam David's Foreword

P.S. - You will be seeing more comics from Powil soon. Stay tuned :)

UPDATE! The Mind Control page is currently undergoing maintenance...
UPUPDATE! Maintenance finished! Now, READ!

Jean Giraud (1938 - 2012)

Stan Lee & Moebius' Silver Surfer story holds a special place in my heart. It was the comic that triggered my desire to draw when I was 9 or 10 years old... I may not have Monsieur Giraud's drafting skills but he will always be a huge inspiration.

Rest in peace, Moebius!

P.S. - Read his stuff!

Lomo...

So I bought a Holga 120N camera & these are the pictures I took...

A door... I think. So hipster.
A friends wedding.
My wife & I... EARTHQUAKE!!!
Taal Volcano engulfed in bright light.

...they are all blurry. I suck! This was my first time using a lomo camera. If you are reading this & know secret, magical, amazing stuff about the Holga 120N. PLEASE!!! Gimme tips! Pretty please?

Validation

BLTX2 was a huge success! Only stayed for about 3 hours so I wasn't able to go around much & check out stuff. But from what I've been hearing there were tons of great books, zines & comics that came out. Had fun hanging out & talking to some komiks peeps, too.
Thanks to everyone who bought ??? #2! Seeing peoples reactions when they crack open a copy was priceless & I am extremely flattered by all the nice things people said & are saying about the comic...
"...??? #2 was one of the better reads from this summer's BETTER LIVING THROUGH XEROXOGRAPHY. It felt like listening to a girl you've been crazy about for months finally talk to you about her favourite movie." - Adam David (El Bimbo Variations)
"‎???#2 is the !!!" - Dark Chapel (Silent Sanctum Manga!)
I'm not sure if the last one was a compliment though, but I U Chaps! More "Josel & Chappy Show"! I feel validated as a komik-book-making-person. Yey! Props to Josel for cleaning up my sloppy lettering & getting the book printed. Also for being the biggest supporter of my stuff. You da man, BROOO!
Here's the original cover, where my one-armed Deathlok action figure makes an appearance...
If you have anything to say about ???#2 (good, bad, whatever), please leave a comment. Would very much like to know what you thought of the komik. Again, thank you komiks-buying-person! See you next issue (which will be out hopefully by December 2012). Oh yeah! Baro Investigations this (fingers crossed) November 2012!
P.S. - Check out Rob Cham's The Amazing Topless Head. Rob (who along with his girlfriend Pat are very nice peeps) released a printed version of the komik at BLTX. Reminded me a lot of Invader Zim. Also, buy a copy of SSM Jet at the next 'Kon or at them comic shops (Comic Odyssey / Sputnik)! Fun kid friendly komik done the SSM! way.

???#2 & Mind Control

Coming out later (March 2, 2012 - 8PM) at BLTX2! Cover above... 34 pages of comicbookness! Be amazed at my sloppy lettering & migraine-inducing typos!

A special thingy (by Josel Nicolas of Windmills fame) for my thingy! Yeti Crab!

Also, the first full-length comic to be published under the QBCCC imprint! Mind Control by Powil Guzmanos! A 50-page one-shot!

Adam David's foreword for the comic...

Thanks for printing the books Josel!

See you all later!
